The powerful acoustic spanish guitar duo got their start playing in a speed metal band in Mexico City. Since then they've traveled to Europe widening their scope of influences and relishing their sounds. Their sophmore album 11:11 (released September 8) seamlessly mixes the genres of flamenco and heavy metal. Seeing them live can be an edge of your seat kind of experience, watching them as they focus every bit of themselves into their instruments a tremendous engery gets sent into their guitars and what comes out you won't want to take your eyes and ears off of

The Dirty Projectors October 26 @ Antones
A lively group of musicians from Brooklyn who recently rocked out the Dell Stage at this years ACL Festival. The Dirty Projectors have also played in Austin before with groups like Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective. They also collaborated with David Byrne for the 2009 Dark Was The Night compilation CD, with the song "Knotty Pine." Their sound is experimental and playful, as well as impeccably cohesive. Their impressive choral like harmonies and funky dance beats can inspire some interesting dance moves among the crowd. According to reviews from recent shows, including the one at ACL, the group re-creates the songs recorded on their latest album Bitte Orca just as well live.
Blind Pilot October 29 @ The Parish
For a band that toured the entire west coast via bicycles, we are thankful that they will actually be making it to see us in Austin (not via bicycle this time). The indie folk duo comprised of Israel Nebeker (vocals, guitar) and Ryan Dobrowski (drums) has opened for acts such as Counting Crows and The Decemberists. Their melodic harmonies and succinct gingerly drum patterns along with lyrics that weave subtle stories of life create a beautiful scenery for those seeing them live. Their debut album is 3 Rounds and Sounds.
